Your 1st place Seattle Totems (24-4-0, 1st overall in NorPac) will host their cross sound rival Puget Sound Tomahawks (13-14-0) this Wednesday night, December 31st at 7:05pm at Olympic View Arena.Seattle will travel to Bremerton to finish off the home and home series on January 1st at 7:35pm.

The Totems will host last seasons division championship series opponent, the Titans of Tri Cities on Friday, January 2nd and Saturday, January 3rd at OVA. Both games start at 8:05pm.

Head Coach Mike Murphy stated "This is a tough way to start off the stretch drive having four games in four nights. We battled through a 17 day layoff then played 8 games in 12 days then the schedule put us back on another 17 day layoff before this week. Puget always plays us tough and Tri Cities is 8-2 in their last 10 games. We have our work cut out for us after the extended break with many of the players spending extra time at home before returning to Seattle. We have been blessed with some exceptional goaltending lately, that will have to continue due to some key players still being on IR".

Who's Hot?? #16, Captain Tanner Schulze leads the scoring race in NorPac with 65 pts. and also leads the league in assists with 40. #15 Kyle Stoumbaugh (NorPac single season scoring record holder 134 pts.) is in second place with 59 pts. #26 Spencer Galvin holds down 4th in scoring but is leading NorPac with 27 goals. #18 Quinn Snider leads all NorPac defensmen with 12 goals, and 22 assists. Goalie Miles Klingenberg is 4-0-0 with a 1.91 gaa and a .941 sp since joining the Totems. Nick Cafrelli has been a solid 7-2-0, 2.62 gaa, .924 sp and 1 shutout. The Totems continue to lead NorPac on special teams with a sizzling 23.17% powerplay and an 88.41% penalty kill that has included 16 shorthanded goals for.

In the last ten games leading into the break Seattle has had plenty of hot hands in the scoring race with Galvin collecting 11g, 14a. Schulze has 7g, 18a, and Stoumbaugh with 9g, 14a and 2 gwg's. Chris Beede has started heating things up around the net as well with 8 goals, 11 assists and a gwg. Shawn Pauly has also been lighting the lamp of late with 7 goals, 12 assists and a gwg.

The 17-2-0 Seattle Totems picked up a pair of wins over the River City Jaguars in a couple of spirited games on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

After a 17 day layoff the Totems showed some rust early but Paulos Shiferaw sparked Seattle in his first game with 2 goals, one which was shorthanded. Tanner Schulze collected 2 goals (1 short) and an assist on the night while Quinn Snider picked up the game winner on a 75 foot blast that he fired prior to entering the zone. Seattles penalty kill was outstanding scoring 2 shorthanded goals and killing off 11 of the Jaguars 12 powerplay chances including a 5 minute stretch to end the game that featured a full 2 minute 5 on 3. Nick Cafrelli picked up the win in goal and is now 3-0-0 with a .921 save percentage since being aquired from Rogue Valley.

Wednesday night was all Totems despite not having last seasons NorPac scoring champ Kyle Stoumbaugh (134 pts. NorPac record), Paulos Shiferaw, Eric English or big Jon Carpenter in the lineup. Miles Klingenberg picked up his first win in a Totems sweater stopping 22 of 24 shots and Nick Cafrelli mopped up in the 3rd stopping 7 o7. The Totems league leading powerplay (25.20 pct.) scored on 5 of 15 chances.

Seattle was led on the scoreboard by Shawn Pauly (2ppg, 3a), Tanner Schulze (1ppg, 3a), Anthony Patt (2g, 1shg), Spencer Galvin (1ppg, 2a), David Castellion (1ppg, 1a), Branden Vandermoon (1g),and Taylor Perkins (2a).

Head Coach Mike Murphy stated "I was a bit concerned coming off of the long layoff but I was happy with the way that the boys responded. Paulos fit right in and the numbers that our young 91's and 92's put up should open some eyes in the NAHL and the BCHL. The rookies have really been working hard so I didn't have a second thought about giving them more pp time and they rewarded us with an outstanding effort. Pauly has been one of our top players this season and Patt has been a regular on the pk but to see our kids (Vandermoon, Twietmeyer, Patt and Castellion) collect 4 goals shows the depth that we thought we would have when we decided to go a bit younger this season. When you throw in the solid play and steady improvement that John Dennis and Ryan Mana, both 92's, have shown on the blueline these young Totems are making it tough to make the game night lineup for all 25 players. The fact that we are entering an 8 game in 12 day stretch is made easier knowing that any player that we have in the lineup can contribute when called upon."

Seattle travels to Rogue Valley for games Friday and Saturday and Eugene on Sunday night. The Totems next home games are vs the Lakers from Couer d'Alene Thursday, Friday and Saturday night December 4, 5 and 6.

Despite being down to the Tri City Titans 2-1 on Friday and 3-1 on Saturday the Seattle Totems battled back to win both games by scores of 4-3 and 5-4 at the Toyota Center in Tri Cities. Special teams played a big part in the victories as the Totems scored on 4 of 9 powerplay chances.

Friday night the Totems were led on the scoreboard by Shawn Pauly with 2 goals and 1 assist, captain Tanner Schulze (1g, 1a), Kyle Stoumbaugh (1g, 1a) and Jake Radermacher (1g, 1a) potted the game winner.

Saturday night Spencer Galvin continued his push towards the top of the NorPac scoring race with 2 goals. Galvin finds himself in 4th place in scoring behind Schulze (37 pts), Stoumbaugh (36 pts) and Eugene's Michael Frei (32 pts). Chris Beede got the Totems rolling early in the first period but the Titans jumped out to a 3-1 lead. A shorthanded goal by Nick Guzman exiting the penalty box tied it up for Seattle before Kyle Stoumbaugh finished them off with 1:47 remaining in the game. Quinn Snider also picked up 2 big assists on the night.

Nick Cafrelli stepped right in after just one practice with Seattle and earned both wins in goal posting an outstanding .917 save percentage.

The Totems next home games are Tuesday, November 25th and Wednesday the 26th vs the River City Jaguars. These two games will begin a grueling 5 games in 6 night stretch that Seattle must endure.

The Seattle Totems (15-2-0) will play host to the River City Jaguars (7-8-0) next Tuesday, November 25th at 8:15pm and Wednesday, November 26th at 7:30pm at Olympic View Arena. All tickets for this series only 5.00!

These games will be the the first two of a 5 games in 6 night stretch over the holiday weekend that rolls into an 8 game in 12 day run. During this stretch the Totems will face off at home against River City, @ Rogue Valley, @ Eug then return home the weekend of December 5th and 6th to play Couer d'Alene.

The 14-2-0 Pacific division leading Seattle Totems added goalie Nick Cafrelli, forward Paulos Shiferaw and defenseman Josh Prather to the roster this week.

The Totems traded forward Phil Harezlak to the Rogue Valley Wranglers for 1989 born goalie Nick Cafrelli of Fremont, Ca. The need to seek out a goalie was brought on by recent injuries to Kevin Maile, 8-1-0(upper body, 3-4 weeks) and Chris Beadles, 5-1-0 (knee, season).

1989 born forward Paulos Shiferaw of Seattle, Wa. rejoins the Totems from the Quesnel Millionaires of the BCHL. Paulos last played for Seattle 3 seasons ago prior to signing with the Surrey Eagles.

Josh Prather, an 89 born defenseman from Kent, Wa. rejoins the Totems after spending a season with the Princeton Posse of the KIJHL.

Head Coach Murphy stated "After first losing promising young forward Kyle Peterson last week to a potentially season ending knee injury on top of an upper body injury to F David Castellion(3-4 weeks) we needed to bring in some players. Paulos will be able to step right in with an understanding of our program and should provide some immediate assistance. Josh Prather returning to the lineup is an instant upgrade to our blueline. Josh first played in the league at 15 and brings steady play, toughness and tremendous leadership to our backend.

"We have liked Cafrelli since last year and when two of our three tenders went down we needed some instant help. Nick has shown the ability to stay focused and battle hard while in Rogue Valley and seems to be able to come up with that big save. He and Billy Long will have to pull the weight for now. Once we found out that he was available it was a trade that we had to make".

"Although we have gotten of to a good record our play is still subpar at times and these three players will give us more depth to the lineup".

The Totems are extremely happy to welcome Nick Cafrelli and welcome back Paulos and Josh to the Totems family.

The Pacific division leading 10-1-0 Seattle Totems return home for a four game home stand facing the Lakers of Couer dAlene in a special Thursday night tilt. Game time is 8:15pm

The 3rd place Lakers gave the Totems their first loss of the season this last Friday night in 10-7 shootout. Seattle bounced back on Saturday night to defeat the Lakers 5-1.

Friday and Saturday night the Totems will square off with the #2 team in NorPac, the Eugene Generals(6-2-0) at 6:30pm both nights. 

This 2 game series should be exciting as these two teams boast arguably the top three forwards in the division with Kyle Stoumbaugh and Tanner Schulze(Seattle) and Michael Frei (Eugene). This weekend will also showcase the top four goaltenders in the west with Kevin Maile(5-0), Chris Beadles (5-1) vs Kevin Aslett(4-1) and Nolan Ohmart(2-1). With the Totems and Generals leading the League in shots and special teams these games will be high paced, high scoring old school hockey.

Game time Thursday is 8:15pm. Game time Friday and Saturday is 6:30pm. Next game for Seattle will be Sunday 11/2/08 vs the Tri City Titans at 6:30pm at Olympic View Arena.
